Description
The Bird in Hand is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior with batten decoration. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, adorned with three gabled dormers. The building has one storey and attics, with a five-window range that includes various casements and sliding sashes. To the right, there is a lean-to extension clad in grey slate. A panelled door is located to the right, complete with a frieze and canopy. Red brick chimney stacks are also positioned to the right. The building has been recorded at some point as a public house and as a shop in 1915.
