Description
The Green Man is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 17th to 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is L-shaped, positioned at a crossroads. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tiled roof that is half-hipped towards Stebbing Road, and features a gable crosswing with moulded bargeboards on the right side. It has two storeys, with a window arrangement of three windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with two smaller windows, all comprising various small-paned casements and sliding sashes. There is a 20th-century plank and muntin door with a flat canopy and brackets facing Stebbing Road, and a 20th-century board door on Dunmow Road. The building has red brick chimney stacks and has been recorded as a public house in 1766 and 1858.
