Description

This is a late 16th-century house located on Town Street in Thaxted. It is timber-framed and has been plastered, with a red plain tile roof. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window front. The windows are double-hung, vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. A shop is situated at the northwest end of the building, and a six-panel door leads to a passageway at the southeast end. An original central chimney stack, constructed from red brick, is partially visible; it has been rebuilt at the top.
