Description

This is a 16th-century house located on Watling Street in Thaxted, with alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries. The house is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof. It has two storeys and attics, displaying a four-window facade with double-hung vertical sliding sash windows featuring glazing bars. The entrance is marked by a door with a moulded cornice and six panels. A modern bow window has been added. Inside, the main timber frame is exposed. Notable original features include a 16th-century red brick chimney stack and a ground-floor fireplace with a mantel beam. Both 16th and 18th-century doors are present.
