Description
This pair of chest tombs, located 37 meters west of the tower of Saint Mary's Church and 13 meters from the north churchyard wall in Saffron Walden, dates from 1810 and 1801. They are made of Portland stone. The southern tomb is inscribed with the name Thomas Edwards and features fluted corner buttresses and elliptical raised panels on each face, along with a shaped lid. The northern tomb is inscribed with the names Thomas Archer (1820) and Ann Archer (1801) and has clasping corner buttresses with depressed lancets and a shaped lid.
