Description

This is an early 19th century house with later additions dating from 1991 and 1992. The house is constructed of gault brick, now painted, and has a slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan. The north-facing front elevation has a two-window range and a central doorway, with a hipped roof at the west end. Chimneys are located at both the east and west ends. The doorway is framed by a wooden doorcase featuring a cornice hood and an architrave with ogee and hollow chamfered moulding, supported by consoles. The door itself is panelled with four moulded panels, and has an overlight with glazing bars and three panes. The ground floor has a sash window with a 3x4 pane arrangement, and a 20th-century bow window in an early 19th-century style, with six panes across and four panes high. The first floor has casement windows with glazing bars; the lower parts are fixed with a 3x3 pane arrangement, and the upper parts are hinged with a 3x1 pane arrangement. The south-facing rear elevation has paired gabled wings. The western wing is original, with deep boarded eaves, an external gable stack, and three 20th-century casement windows with a 2x4 pane arrangement. The eastern wing was built in 1992, and has a ground floor French window with side lights (12x5 panes), and a first-floor 3-light casement window with a 6x3 pane arrangement. A slated, gabled addition facing west was built in 1991, incorporating a fully glazed door and a 3-light casement window, both with glazing bars. The east and west side elevations are concealed by lean-to sheds.
