Description
23 and 25 Cambridge Road is a 17th to 18th century timber-framed and plastered house located in Stansted Mountfitchet. The front features a date panel in the center of the upper storey, inscribed with the initials 'T' above 'L.S' and the date 'July 25 1759'. The facade is lined to resemble ashlar. The building has two storeys and attics, with two window ranges. The first storey has 20th century casements, while the ground storey features one double-hung sash window with glazing bars and a 19th century shop front. At the south-west end, there is an early 19th century doorcase with fluted pilasters, an ornamental frieze, and a dentilled cornice. The house has wings extending to the rear, one of which includes an original chimney stack with diagonally set shafts. The roof is tiled and has a large square chimney stack at the rear.
