Description

Forge House is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on Cambridge Road in Stansted Mountfitchet. The north gable features an oval plaster panel bearing the date 1759 and some remains of decorative pargeting. The house was renovated in the 20th century, exposing the timber framing on the south-east front. It has two storeys and a three-window front with casement windows and leaded lights. The exposed timber framing includes a series of original carpenters’ marks above the bressummer. The roof is tiled, with a central chimney stack. A modern gabled porch projects from the front, and a modern addition extends to the rear.
