Description
Granta House is a house located on Linton High Street, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with elements of an earlier building that was refronted and reroofed in the early 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a plain tiled and slate mansard roof, and has a tarred brick plinth. It stands two storeys tall with attics, and includes an end stack on the left side and a ridge stack. The central entrance has a wooden doorcase with reeded pilasters, a frieze with paterae, and a cornice. There are two three-light hung sash windows and three flush-framed hung sash windows with vertical glazing bars, along with two three-light casement dormer windows. To the west, there is a lower extension, and attached to the rear is an early 19th-century range made of flint with red brick dressings, featuring slate and pantile roofs, although part of it has been demolished to the south. Inside, the building has exposed floor frames showing reused materials, and the attic floor consists of plastered laths from an industrial building range.
