Description
This barn, located approximately 15 metres south-west of Poplars Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, featuring main roofs covered with plain red clay tiles and lean-to extension roofs made of red pantiles. The structure consists of three bays aligned east to west, with a midstrey to the north that has been blocked and weatherboarded over. A later entrance has been added to the middle bay of the south wall. Lean-to extensions are present on both sides of the midstrey along the north wall. The barn has jowled posts, cambered tiebeams, and inclined queen posts, although the arch braces below the tiebeams are missing. The roof is largely original, with some later repairs and reinforcements, and it was thatched until around 1970. Curved tension braces are trenched to the inside of the studs. The barn was formerly listed as Grade III.
