Description
Rayleigh Cottage is a late 14th century or early 15th century open hall house with floored end bays. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a thatched half-hipped roof. The building is one storey high with attics and has five windows, which are modern casements, along with a central modern bow window and one dormer. A mid-16th century red brick chimney stack is present, as well as a 16th-century inserted floor in the original hall. Inside, there is a large 16th-century fireplace with a mantel beam. A modern extension has been added at the rear.
