Description
Baldwyns is a house dating from the early 15th century, with alterations made in the 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof that is hipped at the west end. The building has one storey and attics, featuring an original open hall that consists of two bays along with a service bay. There is a range of three 20th-century leaded casement windows and two gabled dormers, also with 20th-century leaded casements. A 20th-century gabled porch is located in the original entrance position, and there is a flat-roofed single-storey extension at the west end. A red brick chimney stack is situated at the south end of the house. Inside, the original frame remains intact, showcasing a cross quadrate crown post roof. Evidence of two service doors and original diamond mullioned windows can still be seen, along with halved and bridled scarf joints. A first floor was inserted into the hall in the late 16th century.
