TL 71 NW FELSTED LEEZ LANE

8/185 Leez Priory - Garden Wall 20.2.67 (formerly listed as Walls of the kitchen garden)

Wall of 3 sides, south, west and north. probably contemporary with main buildings on the site approx. 1537. Red brick built with dentil to moulded coping. Generally approx. 8-10 ft. high but rising to 20 ft.+ at south face where it incorporates the remains of a former building, with 2 eastern extensions, the northern-most continuing south east, this section has pug holes for floor joists and has a "knocked-out" opening to the west. South and West faces have 8 buttresses each. There is a fine wrought iron entrance gate to the South East extension and a smaller wrought iron garden gate in the west face. The whole encloses an orchard, kitchen garden and fish pond and terminates to the S.E. at the Entrance Gate and adjoining outbuilding and to the N.E. at the Fisherman's Hut.
