Description

Newhouse Farmhouse is a house from the 18th century, possibly with earlier origins, that has undergone later alterations and additions, including a rear wing. The building is timber framed and has ashlar lined plaster. It features grey slate double range roofs with moulded soffits on the end gables and has chimneystacks on both the right and left sides. The house is two storeys high with attics, a parapet, and a cornice band.

The façade has a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes. The original central doorway has been relocated to the left side and is accessed by steps. This doorway features a round-headed arch with reveal panels, half columns with moulded capitals and bases, a moulded frieze, a dentilled cornice, and a pediment above a six-panelled door with a round-headed light and tracery above. There is also a two-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, with the upper windows having round heads, and a single gable window.

The rear wing, likely a former bakehouse or kitchen, includes chamfered bridging joists. Inside, there is a fire surround with a moulded soffit to the shelf, various panelled doors and surrounds, moulded fire surrounds, moulded cornices, and panelled shutters throughout the house.
