Description
Stettles Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with 18th century and later alterations. The main range features a wing to the left and a left return that may be from the 15th century or earlier. It is constructed of timber framing with pargetted plaster and has a hipped red plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a two-window range of three-light small paned casements. There is a central gabled porch with pierced bargeboards and a pendant, leading to a two-panel half-glazed door. This door is surrounded by fluted pilasters and a frieze, and there is a central red brick chimney stack.
The left wing and return are made of similar materials and consist of one storey with attics, featuring two gabled dormers and one ground floor window of small paned casements. There is also a louvred opening to the left and two red brick chimney stacks. Inside, there are chamfered beams and brick floors, along with a late 17th century door. The return wing appears to have been a kitchen added in the 17th century and includes an inglenook fireplace with a mantel beam. At the time of the survey, there was no internal access to this area.
