Description

The ice house, located approximately 30 metres south of The Quarters in Alresford Park, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with a dome that is covered with earth. The entrance features a round-headed opening that leads into a sunken chamber, which is approximately 4 to 5 metres deep. This ice house is situated on an island and can be accessed by crossing a sluice and stepping stones near the eastern end of the ornamental lake.
