Description

The ice house, located on an island at the east end of the lake in Perlethorpe Thoresby Park, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings. The building features an L-plan ramped entrance, which is flanked by brick retaining walls topped with chamfered coping. The entrance door has a segmental head. The interior chamber is reputed to measure approximately 3 meters cubed. Above this chamber is a pentagonal capstone.
