Description

The monument to Nelson's Navy is a pedestal monument dating from around 1800, constructed from ashlar stone. It features a square plinth with two steps, a pedestal that has a moulded plinth and cornice, and a hipped cap. On the south side, there is a partially erased verse inscription that honors the sailors of Nelson's navy. This monument is part of a group of memorials dedicated to the Battle of the Nile and was erected by the owner of the Thoresby Estate, who was a naval officer.
