Description
Number 7 is a shop that was originally a house, dating from the 16th century and 19th century. It features rebuilt Flemish bond red brickwork and a gabled roof covered with 20th century concrete interlocking tiles. The building has two storeys and a gable end stack on the northeast side. The front showcases 20th century double-hung sash windows with small panes above a 19th century shop front, which includes simple pilasters and console stops at each end of the fascia.
Inside, there is a central spine beam with quadrant moulding, and a timber-framed two-storey rear block from the late 16th century, with the spine beam supported by a jowled post at ground-floor level. An ancient septaria wall in the rear yard features an upper section made of 17th century red brick, which abuts and appears to be integral with the northeast flank wall. There is also a 20th century black boarded two-storey rear extension.
