Description
Ivy Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1500. It features a brick base and an exposed timber frame with brick nogging infill on the front jettied first floor gable end, while the first floor returns are weatherboarded. There are 20th-century weatherboarded extensions set back to the right and left. The roof is covered with red plain tiles and has a central red brick chimney stack.
The front gable has single small paned windows, with a horizontal sliding sash on the first floor and a fixed window with external shutters on the ground floor. The extensions to the right and left also have 20th-century small paned windows, and there is a garage door to the left and a 20th-century door with a small paned top light to the right. The cottage is two storeys high, consisting of two bays and a chimney bay.
Inside, there are arched braces to the cambered tie beams, halved wall bracing on the first floor, and run-out stops to the moulded bridging joist. The roof features a two-armed crown post bridging joist and a two-armed crown post. Additionally, there is a cambered mantel beam above the inglenook fireplace.
