Description
This is a barn dating from the 18th century, located 90 metres southeast of Great Oakley Hall Farmhouse. It is timber framed, covered with weatherboarding, and has a roof made of corrugated iron. The barn consists of seven bays arranged in a northeast-southwest direction, with a two-bay midstrey on the southeast side. There is a 19th-century extension to the southwest, which features a catslide roof covered with slate. Additionally, there is a 19th-century extension in the eastern corner made of red brick and roofed with red clay 'Roman' tiles. A small lean-to extension from the 20th century is located on the northwest side. The northwest elevation includes large doors, inserted double doors, and two high pitching doors that have been added. The structure features a hardwood frame, primary straight bracing, bolted knees to the tiebeams, and a clasped purlin roof with a ridge-board. An inserted floor is also present. This barn is included for its group value.
