Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on the north side of Rectory Road, Little Oakley. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The original main range faces southeast and features internal stacks at each end and one axial stack. A rear service wing is situated near the left end, with its own axial stack, and a parallel service range runs alongside it to the right, with a lean-to extension beyond. A 20th-century flat-roofed extension has been added to the rear right angle, alongside a single-storey lean-to extension to the rear left angle.

The main range is two storeys high with attics, while the service range is one storey high with attics. The front of the main range features four original 12-light sash windows on the ground floor. The first floor has five original sashes, each with 3 + 6 lights, set within flat arches of gauged brick. The attic has five original 9-light sashes within flat-roofed dormers. Many front windows retain crown glass. The main entrance has double doors with three fielded panels, over a light with cast iron geometrical tracery, and is sheltered by a Doric portico with fluted columns, pilasters, and panelled jambs. A string course runs above the first-floor windows, leading to a plain parapet with stone coping and a mansard roof. Parapet gables are also present. A first-floor window on the right return elevation has a single original 12-light sash with crown glass. The rear elevation includes a diagonally slatted larder window.
