Description
Nos. 45, 47, and 49 on West Street are a row of shops dating from the 18th to 19th century. They are built of gault brick and feature a grey slate roof that is hipped to the right, with two chimney stacks at the rear. The buildings are two storeys high and have four small paned vertically sliding sash windows on the first floor. Nos. 45 and 47, located on the left, share a continuous fascia and cornice above their shop fronts, each having a door to the left of a single pane shop window. The windows have moulded sills, and there are pilasters with capitals and bases flanking the doors. Above the part-glazed doors are fanlights. To the right, No. 49 features a round-headed doorway with a keystone and ornate tracery in the semi-circular fanlight above, although it has a 20th-century door. The shop front of No. 49 has a recessed window to the left and a door to the right, also with a fanlight above.
