Description
The Bake/Brewhouse, located approximately 30 metres east of East Hall, is a 17th-century structure with later alterations. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a brick plinth, and features a red plain tiled roof that extends to the east. A tall 17th-century red brick chimney stack with black headers is positioned to the east. The building has vertically boarded doors on its north and east faces. Inside, the frame is through braced and includes heavy chamfered bridging joists along with a side purlin roof. There is a large brick fireplace with a mantel beam above and a pot chain. Adjacent to the south is a large copper, and there was originally a well house that is now blocked. The floor is made of brick. The original East Hall suffered bomb damage during the Second World War and was later demolished; the current East Hall is not listed.
