Description

The former brewhouse, now an outbuilding, dates from around 1777. It is constructed of Flemish bond red brick and features a gabled roof covered with old plain tiles, along with a brick stack at one end. The building has a one-unit plan. The north gable end showcases a flat gauged brick arch above panelled half-glazed double doors and has dentilled brick eaves. Inside, there is a 2-bay butt-purlin roof. This brewhouse was built as part of a farm complex that is depicted on a map of the Mistley Hall estate from 1778, which is now held at the Essex Records Office.
