Description

This stable and brewhouse, located approximately 10 metres to the left (north) of Kelvedon Hall, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features a combination of part timber framing, red brick, and weatherboard facing. The building has a square hipped roof covered with red plain tiles and a central well. It stands two storeys tall, with the lower storey constructed of brick and the upper storey weatherboarded. There are three vertically boarded doors. Inside, there are heavy ceiling joists and red brick fireplaces, which served the brewhouse and possibly an ostler's room on the first floor. This structure is an unusual and interesting survival, contributing significantly to the group value with the main house.
