Description

Eastwood Lodge is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, featuring alterations and additions from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as later modifications. The building is timber framed and plastered, adorned with batten decoration, and has a hipped roof covered in red plain tiles. There are two rear chimney stacks made of red brick that have been partly restored. The house has gabled wings on the rear sides and a stair turret, and it stands two storeys tall with a cellar.

The front of the house features four small paned vertically sliding sash windows with moulded surrounds on the first floor, and two similar windows on the ground floor to the right. There is a left hipped leaded porch that encloses two 19th-century angled bays, alongside a four-panelled two-light door with a moulded surround. To the right of the door is a single-storey wing.

Inside, the house includes an early brick cellar with light niches, a panelled room, and a hall. Notable interior features consist of stop-chamfered bridging joists and moulded bridging joists, as well as rear storey posts and jowled storey posts. There is a wooden Tudor arched doorway with foliate carved spandrels, a marble fireplace, and vertically boarded walls in the stair turret. The property is reputed to have been a hunting lodge.
