Description

Little Stambridge Hall is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, featuring a main range and a west crosswing, along with later alterations and additions. The building is faced with red brick, incorporating some black headers, and has red plain tiled roofs that are hipped on the left crosswing.

The house has an original chimney stack located to the left of the left crosswing, which is offset and has an attached shaft with moulded capping. There is also a large chimney stack at the rear of the main range and an end stack on the right of the main range, as well as a rear right wing stack. The eaves cornice adds to the architectural detail.

The structure is two storeys high and features a window range of 2:5, consisting of small paned vertically sliding sashes. The ground floor and the right return of the crosswing have small paned French windows with semi-circular fanlights that include tracery. A pilaster is positioned between the second and third windows of the main range.

To the right of the pilaster, there is a doorway with a 6-panel door, surrounded by fluted detailing and brackets supporting a moulded and dentilled open pediment. Adjacent to this is a narrow parapeted extension. The right return features a recessed 6-panelled door, with moulded pilasters that have capitals and bases, along with a moulded frieze and pediment. The property is situated on a moated site and has various rear ranges.
