Description
Bay Tree Cottage is a late 18th-century house situated on Hockley Main Road. The building is timber-framed with rendered plaster walls, and has a double-pitched red plain tile roof. Red brick chimney stacks are located on the right and left sides. The two-storey facade features a three-window arrangement of vertically sliding sash windows with small panes and horns; the first-floor windows have shutters. A central doorway is distinguished by pilasters and a flat canopy supported by brackets. The doorway has a 20th-century door with a transom window above. Inside, the ceilings feature stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
