Description

The Old Vicarage is a house, dating to the 18th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of gault brick, with a hipped grey slate roof and gault brick chimney stacks to the right and left. The house has two storeys and a cellar. The front elevation has a three-window arrangement, largely featuring tripartite small-paned vertically sliding sash windows with gauged brick arches; the central window on the first floor is a single light. The central door is of two panels with a small-paned top light, and is topped by a moulded pediment supported by Ionic columns. Documentary evidence suggests a farm existed on the site around 1775, and the building appears to have undergone at least three phases of construction. Interior features include 18th-century six-panelled doors, moulded surrounds, wainscoting, window shutters, and a large chimney stack in the kitchen.
