Description
Woodham Walter Hall is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. The building features a gabled red brick structure, with a timber-framed left wing that is parget plastered, and a right range from the 19th century. It has red plain tiled roofs, an original crosswing to the left, and a gable to the right. There are two red brick chimney stacks with attached diagonal shafts and moulded capping, with the left chimney being a restored original. The original house has a moulded plinth and a central band, along with moulded brick mullions and surrounds for its three-light windows. The house is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:0:1. The right gable features a 20th-century three-light window on the first floor and five small 20th-century windows on the ground floor. There is a central 19th-century large gabled porch with red tiles. The left side has a one-storey and attic range, with a flat head dormer on the right and a two-window range of two-light casements. To the right, there is a forward lean-to porch with a vertically boarded door. Inside, the staircase has splat balusters. The building has also been known as Oak Warren and the Royal Oak Public House and was originally the Warren or Lodge to Old Woodham Walter Hall.
