Description
The bridge over the moat, located 12 metres south of Tolleshunt D'Arcy, dates back to 1585. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and limestone ashlar, arranged in alternate bands. The bridge is aligned northeast to southwest and features four brick arches. The original moulded V-copings can be found on the walls. At the southern end, there are two square brick piers topped with moulded stone caps, one of which has been restored. Each pier displays a stone tablet with a carved coat of arms. The southwest pier is inscribed with 'Ao. Regny Regina Elyzabeth 27', while the southeast pier has the inscription 'Ao. Dni. 1585'. At the inner northeast end, the walls of the bridge curve to connect with the wall of the moat, which is listed separately.
