Description

The wall surrounding the inside of the moat to the north, west, and south of Tolleshunt D'Arcy Hall dates from the late 16th century. It is constructed of red brick using English and irregular bond patterns. The wall runs along the inner edge of the moat, starting from the dovecote and extending along the northern, western, and southern arms to an ancillary building located southeast of the Hall. The wall varies in height above ground level at different sections and is bonded to both the dovecote and the bridge. There is no coping on the wall. It is included in the listing for its group value.
