Description

The wall to the west of the dovecote at The Spital is a high red brick structure that dates from the early 18th century and features stone coping. There are remains of adjoining buildings at various points along the wall. The wall returns at the north end, where it ramps down and up to a later gate pier. At the south end, it ramps down as well, although some of the coping is missing. On the west side, there is a blocked elliptical carriage arch and three small doorways.
