Description
Goodgrooms is a house that originally served as cottages, dating from the 15th or 16th century, with later alterations and additions. The building is timber framed, with sections that are parget plastered and others that are weatherboarded. It features a red plain tiled roof and has red brick chimney stacks on both the left and right sides, along with a rear wing. The house is two storeys high and has a four-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, with pentice boards above the ground floor. There is a 20th-century panelled door on the right, which has a moulded surround and a flat canopy supported by moulded brackets. Inside, the house has a heavy, close-set timber frame, chamfered bridging joists, and a well-crafted staggered side purlin roof that is pegged at the ridge. There are two moulded three-board doors, one featuring original strap hinges and the other with renewed L hinges. The interior also includes an inglenook fireplace and a newel staircase.
