Description
The Blackwater Inn is a public house that dates from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed of brick, with some sections plastered and others weatherboarded. The building features grey slate roofs, hipped on the right side from the 18th century and hipped on the left side from the 19th century. There are two red brick chimney stacks on the right and one on the left of the left range.
The first floor has a 1:3 window arrangement, while the ground floor has a 2:2 arrangement. The windows on the left range have segmental arches, and all windows are vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars. The central entrance has a recessed round-headed doorway with a panelled soffit and panelled double doors. Approaching the entrance, there are flights of five steps from both the left and right, which are flanked by cast iron stick balusters leading to the rails. The inn is situated at an important road junction and forms a group with a linked cottage to the west.
