Description
Well Cottage is an 18th-century pair of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, located on the west side of High Street, Bradwell-on-Sea. The building is timber-framed and largely red brick faced, with a dentil eaves cornice and weatherboarded returns. It has a red plain tiled roof surmounted by two gabled dormers, and a central brick chimney stack. A wing extends to the rear. The original design included one storey and attics. The front elevation features a two-window range of small-paned vertically sliding sash windows with segmental arches above. A four-panelled door is positioned on the right-hand side. Inside, there is a restored Inglenook fireplace. Internal construction includes through-bracing to the walls and chamfered bridging joists. The cottage occupies an important site facing the Church.
