Description
Farm Cottage and Sexton Cottage are a pair of cottages built in the early 19th century, specifically for Peter Du Cane when he relocated villagers from Braxted Park to Bung Row around 1825 to 1831. The cottages are constructed of red brick and feature a hipped red tiled roof. They have two symmetrically placed red brick chimney stacks with two diagonal shafts. The buildings are two storeys high and have four forward gables with a dentilled eaves cornice and a central band. There is a four-window range of diamond leaded two-light casements, each with moulded brick hoods above. The right and left sides have glazed doors that also feature original hoods above. At the rear, there is an outshot that maintains similar architectural details.
