Description

This is a barn located approximately 85 metres south of Tolleshunt D'Arcy Hall, dating from the 18th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn consists of five bays oriented roughly east to west, featuring a midstrey on the south side and a lean-to extension on the north side. The base wall is constructed of red brick in English bond. The walls have primary straight bracing, and bolted knees support the straight tiebeams. The wallplates feature face-halved and bladed scarfs, while the roof is a butt-purlin design with pegged collars and added raking struts.
