Description

Godfrey's Farmhouse is a house with origins in the 17th century, although the rear ranges likely date from an earlier period. The front range was built in the early 19th century of red brick with a red plain tiled roof. The house has red brick chimney stacks on both the right and left sides. It is two storeys high, with a three-window front featuring small-paned vertically sliding sash windows, each with a gauged brick arch. The central doorway has six panels, and above it is a semi-circular light with glazing bars set within a red brick arch. Behind the main house are three gabled ranges. A bake oven is located to the rear, attached to the right-hand chimney stack, and this range was previously used as a brewhouse and dairy. Inside, the house features heavy stop-chamfered bridging joists and heavy studding in some rooms. Two original four-board doors remain, complete with hand-wrought hinges. Inglenook fireplaces are also present.
