Description

The Church of St John the Baptist, built in 1839, is a Grade II listed building constructed of stock brick in Flemish bond. It features a tall nave, a lower chancel, and a west tower with a taller stair turret at the northeast, all topped with battlements. The roofs are ridged and gabled, with eaves covered in grey slate, leaving raised and stone-coped gables. The architectural style is a severe Early English, characterized by lancet windows. The chancel has angle buttresses similar to those of the tower, both of which are gabletted and have two offsets. A dentil cornice of headers runs along the eaves, and there is a stone sill band.
