Barn Adjoining Number 26

The building is a barn dating from the 16th century, located adjacent to number 26 on Coopersale Street. It is timber framed and weather boarded, featuring a red plain tiled half hipped roof with gablets. The barn consists of six bays and has offset double doors on the north face, along with a single storey "cat slide" roof midstrey on the south face. There is a more recent lean-to addition at the east end. The roof structure includes queen struts with clasped side purlins and windbraces on the left side of each bay, with corresponding braces in the walls beneath the plate. The barn has jowled posts and curved braces to the tie beams, and there is evidence of some re-used timbers. An external panel of plaster is present on the far left hand bay on the south face. The barn has group value with number 26 to the east.
