Description

Chambers Manor is a house dating to around 1600. It is timber framed and originally faced with yellow-grey stock brick, with a red plain tile roof. The original design was L-shaped, with a staircase tower on the internal angle, but it has since been extended with 17th and early 19th century gabled north wings. The south front presents a three-window arrangement of early 19th century vertical sliding sash windows with glazing bars. A simple doorcase features pilasters, a rectangular fanlight, and a flat hood. Original red brick chimney stacks are present, a concertina stack in the west wing and a plain stack at the east end. The interior contains extensive early 19th century detailing, including doors and architraves, along with some original and 17th century stop-chamfered bridging joists. The roof from around 1600 shows arch-braced side purlins with massive queen struts.
