Description
Takeleys is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 18th century. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, with a red brick front facing south and a hipped roof covered in red plain tiles. The building has two storeys and attics, originally designed in an L-shaped plan, which was later connected to a double range during the 18th century. The front has a four-window range with 19th-century vertical sliding sashes and two dormers. There is an original central chimney stack with diagonal shafts, which was altered in the 18th century. Inside, it is said to contain 17th-century floral wall paintings and a carved chimney piece. The house is situated on a moated site.
