Description
House. Dating from the mid-16th century, Parvills incorporates elements of an earlier structure. It is timber framed and plastered, with a red plain tile roof. The house has two storeys, with gabled crosswings extending from the north and south ends, the south crosswing projecting more prominently. The west front has a 1-2-1 window arrangement featuring 19th and 20th century casements, alongside 19th century vertically sliding sash windows with glazing bars. A small gabled porch with a red plain tile roof is present, as is a projecting bread oven, also with a red plain tile roof. The east front exhibits a 17th and 19th century lean-to extension, and a further lean-to porch, which is vertically boarded and has a red plain tile roof. Various late 16th or early 17th century leaded casements are found here. A late 16th century door features, decorated with moulded battens. A substantial central red brick chimney stack, built in the late 16th century, has attached diagonal shafts, partially rebuilt at the top. A further 16th century chimney is also present to the south, again with diagonal shafts. Internally, the original timber frame remains largely intact, along with many original details, including doors, fireplaces, and a newel stair. The building possesses group value from its architectural and historical significance.
