Description
This is a barn located approximately 50 meters northeast of Molmans Farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn has three bays aligned north to south and originally featured a midstrey to the west, which has since been replaced by a lean-to extension made of corrugated asbestos on iron stanchions, dating from the 20th century. The roof is half-hipped at the north end only.
Architectural details include jowled posts, primary straight bracing, and heavy studding. There are near-straight braces to the straight tiebeams, queen struts, and a clasped purlin roof. Collars are present at half-bay intervals, clasping the purlins. The wallplates feature face-halved and bladed scarfs, and the base of the walls has been concreted. This barn is one of two fairly similar barns on the site, with this one located to the northwest.
