Description
Boarded Barns Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The house features two central gabled crosswings, with extensions on both the left and right sides. The right front extension is a single storey and includes a matching window. The main sections of the house are two storeys with attics and have a three-window range of 20th-century small paned casements.
There is a central enclosed porch made of red tiles, which has bargeboards and batten decoration, along with a boarded door. The house is adorned with three red brick chimney stacks. A lintel next to the original brick fireplace is dated 1613. Inside, some of the timber framing is exposed, showcasing stop-chamfered bridging and floor joists, as well as mullion windows. During restoration, a bill for various groceries dated 1634 was discovered in the roof and is now framed in the hall. Additionally, there is 18th-century panelling present.
