Description

The granary, dating from around 1600, is located to the rear of the cartlodge/dovecote and north of St. Peter's Church in Shelley, Ongar. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a hipped red tiled roof, and now stands on concrete supports. The granary features a central boarded door with wrought hinges and a locking bar, as well as original bins and angled bracing in the walls. This building is notably old for its type and enhances the picturesque setting alongside the cartlodge/dovecote and the church.
