Description
Ten Mile Cottage is a house from the late 18th century. It is timber framed, roughcast rendered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building is oriented approximately northeast to southwest and has a southeast aspect, featuring two chimney stacks on the rear wall and a parallel range at the back. There is a bakehouse at the northern corner, which includes an end chimney stack.
The cottage is two storeys high. On the southeast elevation, there is a central six-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed, and a shallow pedimented hood above it. This elevation also has two sash windows with twelve lights each, and three similar windows on the first floor. The windows are equipped with hinged supports for the upper sashes, and some of the windows contain crown glass in both the upper and lower sections, creating a symmetrical appearance.
On the northwest (garden) elevation, there is another central six-panel door with a shallow pedimented hood. Flanking this door are tripartite double-hung sash windows with a configuration of four lights, twelve lights, and four lights. The first floor features two double-hung sash windows with twelve lights each, along with a 20th-century window in the middle.
