Description
Flint Cottage is a house built in the early 19th century, with an extension added in the late 19th century. The structure is made of stock brick, featuring panels of flint and red brick dressings, and is topped with handmade red clay tiles. The house is oriented approximately northeast to southwest, with a southeast aspect and an internal chimney stack at each end. There is an original rear wing at the northeast end, which also has an end chimney stack, and a late 19th-century extension in the northern angle. The building is two storeys high and has a central six-panel door, where the upper four panels are octagonal, accompanied by a tented copper canopy and a trellised porch. On the ground floor, there are two double-hung sash windows with 16 lights, which have been adapted with brickwork to slightly wider openings featuring segmental arches made of gauged red brick. The first floor has a central recess with a round arch of gauged red brick and two windows similar to those on the ground floor. A string course runs at first floor level, and the side walls are constructed of red brick.
